Youth may equal inexperience, but there always an exeption to the rule. Accomplishing in a year and a half what others DJs his age only dream of, one of Rubyhornet.com’s ‘"Best New DJs of 2009"’ MATTBOYWHITE makes moves while others simply talk. With sponsorship from tastemaker boutique Jugrnaut, he has played with or opened for the likes of Wiz Khalifa, Wale, Donnis, PAC DIV, Raekwon, Atmosphere, Curt_in$ and Bobbito Garcia amongst many more.
And with Serato allowing people to do what it once took years to achieve DJ skills are almost an afterthought these days, but with guidance from a few key fixtures in the Chicago DJ scene MATTBOYWHITE did his homework, schooled himself in the Classics, and honed his chops in the undergroud loft party circuit. Although he has been budding in the hip-hop circuit within the city, MBW spent much of this time practicing his sweaty, banger dance sets that he is slowly becoming more and more recognized for.
Taking his new found talents and DJ repetoire to the ‘real world’, he quickly secured gigs at notable Chicago venues like The Abbey Pub, Vision Nightclub, SpyBar, Lincoln Hall, Subterranean, JBar, The Metro, and Empire Liquors. Typically these events would lean towards ‘sold out’ and were the beginnings of his continually expanding fanbase.
With a solid foundation built and an already impressive resume under his belt, 2010 found MATTBOYWHITE performing at SXSW, headlining multiple events at Columbia College, stepping up as the new DJ for upcoming rapper Mic Terror and DJing for DePaul University's popular’ radio show.
Currently MBW's setting up his road to success for 2011; dropping mixtapes with Mic Terror, gearing up for more college radio appearances/club gigs, constructing his debut mixtape and working on his original production skills.
